Beginner Obedience/Manners: This is a 6-week class for dogs 1 year and older. The goal of this class is to have all members of the family work with their dog in a confident and consistent manner. The family will be taught to address impulse control behaviors as well as establish proper communication with their dog. Dogs are now moving from adolescence to social maturity, which means behaviors that were a nuisance during adolescence may now be more problematic. Training cues taught include: SIT, DOWN, WAIT, RECALLS, LOOSE LEASH WALKING, STAY, LEAVE IT, and SETTLE, and behaviors such as JUMPING, MOUTHING AND CHEWING are addressed.
Abbie & Angus demonstrate how to teach your dog to be more attentive you when out for a walk.
Always begin with getting your dog's attention. Intersperse directional changes while targeting your dog to be in proper position.
For dogs who've completed the STAR Puppy or Beginner Obedience/Manners class.
4 weeks Have you completed a STAR or Basic class but your dog's training still needs some fine tuning? In Obedience Skills, we build on the cues taught in STAR Puppy and Beginner Obedience/Manners, concentrating on impulse control, increasing distance, duration and distractions, focusing on leash walking, recalls, and stays.
This class should help to prepare you and your dog for the Canine Good Citizen class.
This class is limited to 6 dogs.
